A trav\u00e9s de una c\u00e1mara termogr\u00e1fica, los muros exteriores del edificio parecen una caja tor\u00e1cica incandescente. Unas l\u00edneas rojas brillantes recorren verticalmente el muro cada 16 inches y muestran exactamente por d\u00f3nde escapa el calor. Esta es la realidad del puente t\u00e9rmico en los entramados convencionales de acero conformado en fr\u00edo (CFS), donde los montantes de acero, altamente conductores, act\u00faan como un atajo para el calor y eluden el aislamiento de la c\u00e1mara.<\/p><p>Durante a\u00f1os, la soluci\u00f3n habitual para esta p\u00e9rdida de energ\u00eda ha consistido en aumentar el espesor de la envolvente con paneles continuos de aislamiento exterior. Sin embargo, a medida que las normativas energ\u00e9ticas municipales se vuelven m\u00e1s exigentes, los ingenieros proyectistas y los constructores se enfrentan a una decisi\u00f3n dif\u00edcil: sacrificar superficie \u00fatil para emplear sistemas de muro m\u00e1s voluminosos o encontrar una forma de aumentar la resistencia t\u00e9rmica de los propios elementos de acero.<\/p><p>En este punto aparece el \u201cmontante t\u00e9rmico\u201d, una clase innovadora de elementos CFS con perforaciones ranuradas alternadas practicadas directamente en el alma. Al introducir f\u00edsicamente c\u00e1maras de aire en la trayectoria de la energ\u00eda que escapa, estas almas ranuradas obligan al calor a recorrer un camino sinuoso y tortuoso alrededor de las ranuras.<\/p><p>Las investigaciones han demostrado la eficacia de esta geometr\u00eda para interrumpir el puente t\u00e9rmico. En un estudio destacado sobre f\u00edsica de la edificaci\u00f3n, la investigadora Julianna Lipt\u00e1k-V\u00e1radi desarroll\u00f3 un m\u00e9todo para calcular la \u201cconductividad t\u00e9rmica equivalente\u201d de las almas ranuradas (Lipt\u00e1k-V\u00e1radi, 2011). Sus resultados revelaron que optimizar la geometr\u00eda de las ranuras puede reducir la conducci\u00f3n t\u00e9rmica a lo largo del alma entre un 70% y un 80% en comparaci\u00f3n con los montantes de alma maciza (Lipt\u00e1k-V\u00e1radi, 2011; Sustain-DPL, 2020). En condiciones estacionarias, la conductividad t\u00e9rmica equivalente de un alma de acero correctamente ranurada puede descender hasta solo el 8.6% de la conductividad natural del acero macizo (Lipt\u00e1k-V\u00e1radi, 2011).<\/p><p>Adem\u00e1s, un estudio de 2023 publicado en la revista Energies por Zhijian Yang y un equipo de especialistas en envolventes de edificios demostr\u00f3 que un muro CFS con montantes provistos de siete filas de ranuras reduce el coeficiente global de transmisi\u00f3n t\u00e9rmica del muro en un 38.59% frente a un muro id\u00e9ntico con montantes de alma maciza (Yang et al., 2023).<\/p><p>Para visualizar el efecto de estas variables, el siguiente gr\u00e1fico compara c\u00f3mo influyen distintos par\u00e1metros de las ranuras del alma y diferentes espesores de acero en el rendimiento t\u00e9rmico general de los sistemas de muro de acero conformado en fr\u00edo:<\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN\">\u00a0<!-- [if gte vml 1]><v:shapetype
